Originally called Westminster before becoming the village of Byron in 1804, the City of London annexed the area in 1961 and significant suburban development and population growth since then has evolved Byron into what is it today.

Spanning south of the Thames River to Southdale Road, east to Colonel Talbot Road, and west to Wickerson Road, Byron's historic village roots are still apparent as the area has a small-town feel with great locally owned shops and cafes.

Byron is surrounded by forested areas and is popular among families due to its close proximity to a number of parks. In addition to well-known Springbank Park, you can play baseball or soccer at Whisperwood Park, play tennis or go for a swim at Jorgenson Park, or go for a hike at Warbler Woods Environmentally Significant Area.

Byron offers access to all amenities you might need, including shopping, drug stores, dining, and more. In addition to churches of all kinds, there are five elementary schools located in the area. For secondary schools, the closest is St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School across the Thames River, but high school students also attend Saunders Secondary in Westmount and Oakridge Secondary in Oakridge.
